Payment Manager
We are seeking an experienced Payments Manager to lead and enhance all aspects of the payment operations function. This position will oversee payment processing infrastructure, transaction performance, reconciliations, processor relationships, and payment-related initiatives across a variety of payment channels including card payments, digital wallets, store financing solutions, and emerging payment technologies.
The ideal candidate will work closely with internal departments such as Finance, Technology, Risk, and Compliance, while also managing external payment partners to improve transaction efficiency, minimize fraud exposure, maintain compliance standards, and support a seamless customer payment experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Payment Operations & Optimization
Manage day-to-day payment operations across multiple payment methods and transaction channels.
Design and implement payment strategies that align with business growth objectives and market expansion plans.
Analyze transaction metrics including approval rates, failed payments, retry activity, and overall payment performance.
Identify opportunities to reduce payment processing expenses, including interchange and network-related fees.
Ensure payment systems remain efficient, scalable, and operationally reliable.
Vendor & Payment Partner Management
Maintain strong relationships with payment processors, gateways, and financial technology providers.
Coordinate vendor selection processes, pricing discussions, and contract negotiations.
Oversee implementation projects involving new processors, integrations, and payment products.
Manage escalations and communication during payment outages, disruptions, or service-related incidents.
Evaluate vendor performance and recommend operational improvements when needed.
Financial Controls & Reporting
Monitor payment settlements and ensure transaction accuracy across various providers and currencies.
Work alongside Accounting and Finance teams to support reconciliation processes, reporting, and audit preparation.
Create reporting tools and dashboards that provide visibility into transaction trends, payment costs, fraud activity, and chargeback performance.
Assist with identifying and resolving payment discrepancies or operational inefficiencies.
Collaboration & Business Support
Partner with Technology teams to improve payment platform functionality, stability, and scalability.
Support cross-functional initiatives involving fintech innovation and payment modernization efforts.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
